Cub Scout Pack 178 was originally chartered in March of 1980 as a non-denominational unit with our current charter organization of Mountain View Lutheran Church.  Ahwatukee was a young community at this time, not even part of the city of Phoenix and only going as far South as Warner road.

Originally the Pack held meetings at Kyrene de Los Lomas elementary school, moving to meeting at Mountain View Lutheran after the construction of the church’s family life center.  The Pack has had over 40 years of serving the community and helping to shape youth into future leaders.  Pack 178 has had the opportunity to welcome former Scouts back to the Pack as parents and leaders to the newer generation of Scouting.

Through the years the Pack has seen many changes in the community and Scouting world.  We started out in the Theodore Roosevelt Council and later in to the Grand Canyon Council as Scouting in Arizona grew.  Through all the changes, growth and challenges the Pack has remained a continual part of the Ahwatukee community and looks forward to many more years of serving generations of Scouts to come.
