Bill Madden has been honored with the God and Service Award for Adults.  This award, which the recipient must be nominated through Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (P.R.A.Y), is given to Boy Scouts of America leaders that have given extraordinary leadership to youth in both the Boy Scouts of America and their religious organization.  Bill has given a tremendous amount of time and energy to Cub Scout Pack 178 and SouthGate Church.  At Cub Scout Pack 178, Bill is the Committee Chairman, with responsibilities that include leading the Pack Committee and overseeing all administrative duties.  With a very active Pack of over 50 Cubs, this is no small feat.  At SouthGate Church, Bill is an active part of the church with most of his efforts being in his specialty, IT.  From helping develop the website to helping run IT and A/V, Bill has been a valuable member of the congregation for many years.

This prestigious award was presented to Bill at SouthGate Church during their normal service time in presence of the congregation.  Bill was unaware of the award presentation until it was announced at the service, of which then a dozen members of Pack 178 walked in along with Baron Smith, Cubmaster.  Baron Smith and Pastor Andrew Cunningham then presented Bill with his certificate, Boy Scout Knot patch, lapel pin, and the medallion which is worn around the neck.  A celebration with cake was held afterwards.
